USENIX is actively involved in the specification and development of standards in the following arenas:

• International Organization for Standardization, ISO, and in particular, the JTC1/SC22/WG15 (POSIX) working group (which is now a part of the Austin Group.
• The IEEE, and in particular, the Portable Applications Standards Committee (PASC)
• X/Open or the Open Group, where they are members of the Base Working Group, responsible for the Single UNIX Specification and UNIX branding
• Linux Standards Base, where they are actively assisting in the submission of the LSB to ISO.
